Item types

At the moment, there are six item types included among the ICAR set:

  • Three-Dimensional Rotation
  • Letter and Number Series
  • Matrix Reasoning
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Progressive Matrices
  • Face Detection
  • Figural analogies (IMak package by D. Blum)
A range of item types are currently under development, including but not limited to:
  • Figural analogies
  • Propositional reasoning
  • Compound remote associate
  • Emotion recognition
  • 2D/3D rotation
  • Executive functioning
  • Music perception
We also provide the following item types developed by our collaborative researchers, to whom we are very much grateful for their contribution. Please note that psychometric information is not available for these items. It would be great if you could inform us and share your data if you'd plan to employ these in your studies, so that we could calibrate and validate them for future use by the ICAR community. :
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Numerical reasoning
  • Abstract reasoning
  • Situational judgement
